Bahamas Marriage License Requirements & Legal Information

REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING A MARRIAGE LICENSE IN THE BAHAMAS

* Both parties must be in The Commonwealth of The Bahamas at the time of the application to obtain a license.

* Both parties must have resided in The Commonwealth of The Bahamas for not less than one (1) day prior to the day of the application. (Note that this is referring to one business day.  Thus, for Friday/Saturday/Sunday wedding ceremonies, your arrival in Nassau must be scheduled for no later than Thursday morning).

* The parties must produce some form of photo identification which must be attached. (Passport or driver's license are the preferred id types).

* NO BLOOD TEST IS NECESSARY.

* The license fee of US$100.00 must be paid at the Registrar`s General Office in Nassau,Bahamas.  (Note that this fee is NOT included in UBW's charge).

LEGAL INFORMATION

* NEVER MARRIED -  If either party is not married, a declaration certifying this fact must be sworn before a Notary Public or Justice of The Peace in The Bahamas and such a declaration must be attached to the application to secure a marriage license. (Note that UBW is a one-stop solution, as we DO provide such JP services at nominal costs).

* DIVORCED - If either party has been divorced, the original final decree or a court certified copy must be produced.

* WIDOWED - If either party is widowed, an original or certified copy of the death certificate of the deceased spouse must be produced.
